Silver Springs enjoys partnering with the community.
It didn’t take long for our 6 outside events to book up for the 2017 season. We have partnered with many great causes this year including Youth for Christ (YFC), Children’s Hospital Aid Society (CHAS), and the “Drive for Thrive” tournament (a fundraiser for the Thrive Centre which is a free fitness facility for cancer survivors and support persons, located at the University of Calgary).
Furthermore, we have built solid relationships with Mount Royal University for their Athletics tournament, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, for their annual golf tournament, and Desjardins, for their annual event as well.
We are implementing the “Junior Green Team” for this season as well which Randy is currently building. This team of Juniors will go out after these events and make the golf course look better than before the groups teed off. The juniors will be taught how to fix a ball mark properly, how to replace divots and just overall how to treat a golf course with proper etiquette.
Golf in Schools
This program which we implemented last winter has continued this winter as we are working with all of the kids at HD Cartwright Junior High School once again. Our Professional Staff are introducing the great game of golf to all of the students as we continue to work in the community to give back and ensure the great game of golf is available and accessible to as many kids as possible. As we work through the 2017 season we will be looking to raise some funds to purchase two more Golf-in-Schools education bags that we can give to schools in the area.
